Taal Muffin (Sugar Palm Muffin)

Taal or Sugar Palm fruit when ripe is used in preparation of different types of Bengali desserts during Janmashtami, the festival to celebrate birthday of Lord Krishna.


Janmashtami and Taal are almost always used in a single sentence by the sweet loving Bengalis.


Taal Muffin (Sugar Palm Muffin) is prepared by following a secret inherited family recipe. It is made from usual muffin ingredients (without egg), Taal and coconut. Since it baked and not fried, hence much healthier than the famous Taal-er Bora (Sugar Palm Fritters).


Sugar Palm is rich in Calcium, Phosphorus & Vitamin C and the ripe fruit is available mainly during monsoon season in eastern parts of India and throughout Bangladesh.
